I love to spend time cooking with my family in Columbus. They love food and they love to make traditional Italian recipes handed down through the generations. For everyone, it brings back memories of earlier times, relatives no longer with us and it always feels very meaningful. Cooking with the Italians is typically an all day affair but the best part is that we get to eat what we make. Last weekend, we all made polenta or mush as the family calls it.
The best part of this tradition, is the polenta is spread out on a large wooden board. Then it is covered with sauce, peppers, mushrooms, onions and sausage. Everyone sits around the board and carves out their own section and eats from the board, family style.
After the meal, we skyped with our relatives in Italy!
