We had a great time getting to know Yuko's family on their visit. On their last night we all went out to Terry's Turf Club for burgers. Here's Yuko with Mama-San, her brother Shun and Yamimoto-San. We can't wait to visit them in Japan!

this is very inspiring. sierra laumer a friend of ours is opening a new eatery in over-the-rhine. so far she's been opening her doors on thursday nights and sundays for brunch but they may have more open hours soon. our friend jenna (sierra's sister and best friend) died of cancer earlier this year. she was only 26 and it was a shock that she didn't get better. sierra didn't waste a minute. she kicked into high gear, realized how short and precious life is and she got herself a restaurant, fast. holy smokes. she is a hero! so definitely check out her blog and even better go down there and try her good food.

A perfectly lovely venue for a party. The Mercantile just celebrated its 175th anniversary and was recently renovated. The historic charm remains. It turns out to be a great place for one year olds to romp and also for enjoying cupcakes and beer.

Old Girl

Our pup Attara was put down yesterday after 16 great years. She outlived all of the hound dogs and the old cats from the Kentucky homestead. When she was a pup and sprightly, she loved having the run of the place and the companionship of a dog pack as long as she was the only girl in it. And she loved coming back home. She was the absolute sweetest. Always a loyal companion and right by your side. We loved her and and will miss her dear little self.

Inspiring Gardens, Part 4

In Long Island City, New York, a new rooftop garden or more of a farm is going in on top of this 40,000 square foot space on an industrial building. I'm amazed. Is this the biggest rooftop garden anywhere? I'd love to see the after-picture.
