Our friend Pam Kravetz had an opening today at the Contemporary Arts Center for her larger than life marionette installation. She created 3 marionettes that are elaborately covered in narrative quilting and beading. They are each based on figures from her childhood when she wanted to be a beauty queen and a super hero but instead her nickname was peanut. Here she is standing with the peanut.

The best part is that the marionettes are interactive so kids can pull on giant strings that move the arms and legs. And they are encouraged to wear masks, crowns, capes and try on their own secret identity.

This girl was so cute. She would lift her legs in time with the marionette while her dad pulled the giant strings.
