Day Seven: Staffa, Iona and Mull

We road over rocky seas in this tiny boat for an hour each way to the small uninhabited island, Staffa. 

Our skipper was a lively fellow. He told some jokes that were lost on us due to his thick brogue.

Staffa is one of the geological natural wonders of the world.  This sea cave and much of the island is made up of basalt columns.  It is stunning and the visit was definitely one of our favorite parts of the trip.

Here is our view above the island.  In the summer months the island is covered in Puffins which would be an incredible sight.  Still it was great just imagining them there.

We next visited the island of Iona and the Iona Abbey.  It is an important historical place for Christianity in Scotland and we enjoyed the visit very much.

Back to Mull for an evening walk before dinner.  We headed to the highest point for a view of the sunset and discovered we were hiking up a granite quarry.  The view was beautiful.
