Rattling Racket

Oh about once or twice a year, our very old furnace starts to make the most unbearable noise that travels through every radiator in the house. The awful sound carries to every room. It is so bad that we would rather turn off all of the heat entirely than put up with the horrible racket. Last night for instance, though the low temperature was 18 degrees, we turned off the heat. It was miserably cold but still slightly better than listening to constant clanging. Andy and Johnny investigated and took the motor in the furnace apart. They found lots of broken rattling bits. Of course no supply store was open so late at night. Andy was able to pick up the right parts today and get 'er fixed all by himself. The heat is back on now! We're lucky to have a handy friend like Johnny who will stop over at wee hours to help with repairs.
